Nigeria’s Super Falcons breezed past Comoros 5-0 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Tuesday to seal qualification into the third round of qualification with a 7-0 aggregate scoreline.
Interim coach Augustine Eguavoen’s side arrived with a 2-0 first-leg lead from Friday, courtesy of Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu’s goals.
The night had an early scare. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade went off in the first half after a heavy collision, and Folashade Ijamilusi replaced her. The Falcons showed no sign of losing their grip.
The breakthrough came in the 41st minute. Uchenna Kanu pounced on a mistake by the Comoros goalkeeper, Aicha Said, and squared the ball for Toni Payne to score from close range.
The second half belonged to the substitute Blessing Okpe, who replaced Gift Monday at the break. She beat two defenders on a driving run down the flank in the 63rd minute and cut the ball back for Payne to score her second.
Kanu added her second of the night with a header from an Ijamilusi cross. Okpe then won a penalty in the 71st minute, and Christy Ucheibe sent the spot-kick home to complete the rout.
Comoros had arrived with a 30-0 aggregate win over Sudan in the preliminary round, but they could not live with the ten-time African champions. Both legs were played in Ikenne because Comoros have no CAF-approved venue.
The ten-time African champions will take on the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco for a place in the fourth round of the qualification series.
