Ademola Lookman added to Manchester United’s misery on Tuesday, while Victor Osimhen saw Galatasaray beaten 4-1 by Barcelona. Nigeria’s two star forwards had very different nights.
Lookman scored Atletico Madrid’s second in the 79th minute of a 2-0 win. He finished a rebound after Senne Lammens saved Jonathan David’s effort.
Pablo Barrios scored in the first minute, and United were reduced to ten men when Leny Yoro was sent off in the 74th minute. It was United’s fourth defeat of the season.
In Istanbul, Osimhen struggled against Barcelona’s high line and was caught offside repeatedly. Galatasaray had just two shots all night.
Aleksey Batrakov gave the hosts the lead in the 28th minute. Yilmaz then had a goal ruled out by VAR for offside, and Barcelona took control.
Joao Cancelo equalised just before the break. Anthony Gordon scored his first Champions League goal for the club, and Karim Adeyemi made it 4-1 in the 65th minute. Barcelona have won all ten games this season, while Galatasaray remain pointless.
Arsenal beat Lille 3-0 at the Emirates, with Jurrien Timber, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka scoring in a seven-minute spell after the hour. Lille had no shots on target.
Club Brugge beat Inter 4-3 at the San Siro, with Nicolo Tresoldi scoring a hat-trick. Wednesday brings Manchester City against Paris Saint-Germain and Roma against Real Madrid.
