Mohammed Salah became Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League by surpassing Robbie Fowler’s record during Sunday’s 7-0 hammering of Manchester United at Anfield.
The former Chelsea player scored a brace to register his 128th and 129th goal for the Reds. He has now surpassed former Liverpool legend Fowler as the team’s top scorer in EPL.
Steven Gerrard is now third on that list with 120 goals. Owen and Mane are placed fourth and fifth with 118 and 90 goals respectively.
However, it was a game totally dominated in the first half with Liverpool looking more threatening. It was late into the half before Dutch striker Cody Gakpo gave Liverpool the lead with a fine finish after beating Varane and slotted in a low shot.
Furthermore, the other six goals came in the second half where Nunez, Gakpo, and Salah all grabbed a brace each. Roberto Firmino added the icing on the cake to make it seven by more salt to United’s injury.
In addition, Salah’s brace both came in the 66 and 83 minute. It took 205 games for the number 11 to achieve such huge feat for Liverpool. Also, he became Liverpool’s greatest scorer against Manchester United. He took his goal tally against them to 12 and he is the first Liverpool player to score in six consecutive matches against the Red Devils.
Conclusively, It is expected that Salah will smash more records aside becoming Liverpool all time top scorer. If he plays for the Reds for more years he will definitely become a cult hero.
