Cristiano Ronaldo made history by becoming the first player to score 900 goals, setting daylight between himself and Lionel Messi.
The Portugal captain achieved this remarkable milestone in his country’s 2-1 win over Croatia in Lisbon on Thursday, tapping home from close range after a perfect cross from Nuno Mendes.
After the match, Ronaldo reflected on his latest record, saying:

Lionel Messi, his long-time rival, is the only other player close to reaching this milestone, with a total of 838 goals for club and country.
