British heavyweight boxer, David Adeleye is set to visit Nigeria in December to feature in Chaos in the Ring II, a major boxing event scheduled for December 19 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
The 28-year-old, who was born in London to Nigerian parents, will fight on home soil for the first time as part of a triple-header event co-promoted by Queensberry Promotions, Amir Khan Promotions, and Balmoral Group Promotions. The night will also feature former cruiserweight world champion Lawrence Okolie as one of the main attractions.
Adeleye, who holds a record of 14 wins and two losses, described the opportunity as deeply meaningful. “Nigeria — Motide, mo wa nile — I’m coming home. It will be an honour and a pleasure to fight in my parents’ homeland, a country that has produced many greats,” he said.
The visit marks an emotional return for Adeleye, who has often spoken about his Nigerian roots and the pride he feels representing both the UK and Nigeria in the ring. Following a recent defeat to Filip Hrgovic, the Lagos bout offers him a chance to rebuild momentum in front of a passionate crowd.
The Chaos in the Ring II event aims to boost boxing’s profile across Africa by bringing world-class fighters to Nigeria. Alongside Adeleye and Okolie, several local and international boxers are expected to be confirmed for the undercard in the coming weeks.
