Super Falcons forward Uchenna Kanu has expressed disappointment at being dropped from the Super Falcons squad for the last Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Uchenna Kanu missed out as the Super Falcons beat hosts Morocco 3-2 in Rabat to win a record 10th continental success in July.
While speaking to Nigeria Info FM in an interview posted on the official X page of the radio station on Tuesday, the 28-year-old forward said Justin Madugu didn’t explain why she was dropped from the squad.
Uchenna revealed that Madugu only sent her a message a few days before her travel, informing her of her omission from the squad to Morocco.
“The coach didn’t give me any clear reason why I was left out of the tournament, even after I asked.”
“I felt sad because I had already started processing my visa, only to be informed I wasn’t part of the team a few days before the tournament.”
Four months after the tournament, Kanu says Justin Madugu has not spoken to her about whether or not she will be part of the 2025 edition of the competition scheduled for Morocco in March next year.
Meanwhile, Uchenna Kanu says she has a good relationship with her teammates and has since congratulated them on the monumental feat.
Kanu last represented the Super Falcons at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
