Lionel Messi, the celebrated Argentine forward and captain of Inter Miami CF, attended Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, 2025.
He was accompanied by teammates Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, all of whom previously played together at FC Barcelona. The group witnessed the NFL championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The event attracted numerous celebrities, including FIFA President Gianni Infantino, actors Adam Sandler and Bradley Cooper, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, and footballer Antoine Griezmann.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump also made history by becoming the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, receiving an ovation from the crowd during the national anthem.
In the game, the Philadelphia Eagles secured a decisive 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, thwarting the Chiefs’ bid for a third consecutive championship. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was named MVP after completing 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards and accounting for three touchdowns.
Messi’s appearance at the Super Bowl underscores his growing presence in American sports culture, following his recent move to Major League Soccer with Inter Miami.
