Super Eagles Head coach Eric Chelle has released his squad for Nigeria’s upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan, with notable absentees including star striker Victor Osimhen and first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
The exclusion of Osimhen, one of Nigeria’s most consistent forwards in recent years, is expected to spark debate among fans, while Nwabali’s absence opens the door for other goalkeepers to stake a claim in the team.
In goal, the Super Eagles will rely on the trio of Maduka Okoye, Adebayo Adeleye, and Francis Uzoho, all of whom have prior experience representing the national team.
The defensive lineup features a mix of regulars and emerging options, including Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Bruno Onyemaechi, and Zaidu Sanusi. They are joined by less experienced names such as Igoh Ogbu and Emmanuel Fernandez.
In midfield, the squad retains a strong core with Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, and Wilfred Ndidi, alongside Raphael Onyedika and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Up front, Chelle has opted for a dynamic attacking group led by former African Player of the Year Ademola Lookman. He is supported by Samuel Chukwueze, Akor Adams, Moses Simon, Chidera Ejuke, and target man Paul Onuachu. Emerging talents Philip Otele, and Yira Sor also earn places in the squad.
The friendlies against Iran and Jordan are expected to provide Chelle with an opportunity to assess squad depth, test new combinations, and fine-tune tactics ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures.
