Brazil superstar Neymar has slammed France Football, organizers of the Ballon d’Or for snubbing Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo.
Neymar, now playing for Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, boldly ranks Rodrygo among the world’s top 5 players, suggesting his exclusion from the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist is a travesty.
Rodrygo snubbed for Ballon d’Or
Rodrygo scored 17 goals in 51 appearances for Los Blancos last season, playing a major role as Carlo Ancelotti’s men stormed to the LaLiga and UEFA Champions League double.
In reaction, Neymar Jr posted on social media in support of his 23-year-old international colleague: “Minimum top 5 in the world! Ace.”
Real Madrid players dominate the shortlist, with Vinicius Junior one of the heavy favorites to win. Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Dani Carvajal, and Antonio Rudiger are also in the running. New signing Kylian Mbappe and former midfielder Toni Kroos round up the list.
Mbappe’s summer arrival sparked rumors that Rodrygo might be on his way out, with Manchester City and Liverpool frequently mentioned as potential buyers.
However, the Brazilian winger has refused to back down and has kept his place in the starting lineup. He’s already made his mark this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
