Super Eagles: Akor Adams bags brace, Ighalo on target

Akor Adams makes Super Eagles of Nigeria case with a brace for Montpellier while Odion Ighalo scores for Al Wehda.

Akor Adams, a former player for the Nigerian Flying Eagles, was the hero when Montpellier overcame a goal deficit to defeat AJ Auxerre 3-2 in the French Ligue One match.

Auxerre took the lead in the eighteenth minute through a goal from Hamed Traore.

In the second half, Adams took control of the match when he equalized in the 65th minute for Montpellier.

After Onaiwu pulled one back for the opposition in the 72nd minute, Adams secured a 3-2 victory in the 75th minute with the game’s winning goal.

Al Wehda defeated Al Faisaly to advance to the King’s Cup of Champions round of sixteen, thanks to a brilliant performance from Odion Ighalo.

There would be no goals in the first half of a very close contest and after the break, Al Wehda replaced Morad Mohammed Abdullah Khodari with Ighalo.

In the 48th minute, Lucas Viera de Souza finished a pass that Guedes had sent through for him to put Al Faisaly ahead.

With help from Alaeli, Ighalo would equalize for Al Wehda in the 51st minute.

After extra time, there were no further goals in the match, and the teams moved on to a penalty shootout.

Al Wehda won 4-2 and moved on to the round of 16 thanks to Ighalo, who also set the tone for the penalty shootout.
