Algerian captain Riyad Mahrez has revealed that anything is possible ahead of the AFCON quarter-finals fixture between Algeria and Nigeria.
Mahrez acknowledges that the tie against the Super Eagles won’t be easy as both teams rekindle their rival for a place in the semi-finals.
The Super Eagles blew Mozambique apart (4-0) to secure a place in the last eight while Adil Boulbina scored a late strike in extra-time to give Algeria a 1-0 win over DR Congo.
While speaking with the press, the former Leicester and Manchester City forward said “anything is possible” ahead of the blockbuster clash.
“Nigeria? We know them well, the match won’t be easy. Another last-minute free kick? We’ll see, anything is possible.”
Mahrez has scored in his last two matches against Nigeria. The forward scored a brilliant freekick in the fifth minute of added to help Algeria secure a 2-1 win over Nigeria in the semi-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria will take on Algeria on Saturday evening at the Marrakech Stadium on Saturday, January 10.
