Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has returned from a lengthy lay-off as he looks to contend for a place in Eric Chelle’s team for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Cyriel Dessers has been on the sidelines since September after he suffered an injury in an Europa League away fixture at Young Boys.
The injury ruled him out of the World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic, as well as the World Cup playoffs against Gabon and DR Congo.
In his absence, Sevilla’s Akor Adams scored two goals in four appearances, making him one of the favorites to make the team for the AFCON next month.
With about two weeks to the start of the tournament, Cyriel Dessers races against time to impress Eric Chelle, who is set to release his provisional list soon.
Dessers has three goals in 10 matches for the Super Eagles since he made his debut in a 1–1 friendly match with Tunisia on 13 October 2020.
