The Federal Government of Nigeria says players and officials of the Super Eagles will receive payments of their bonuses within two days.
This comes after the players repeatedly refused to train and threatened not to train ahesd ig their quarter-final face-off against Algeria.
Reports indicate that the players and officials of the team are being owed win bonuses from their matches against Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Mozambique at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Finance in a statement confirmed that the Federal Government and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have streamlined the foreign exchange process to avoid delay in releasing funds to the team.
According to Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite:
“I am pleased to provide an update on the administrative progress regarding the match bonuses for our national team at AFCON 2025.”
“The Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have successfully streamlined the foreign exchange processing to ensure our players are rewarded without further delay.”
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles are en route Marrakech from Fes where they will take on Algeria in the quarter-finals of the competition on Saturday.
