Turkish Super Lig club Galatasaray have officially ruled out star forward Victor Osimhen from their UEFA Champions League opener against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.
Osimhen sustained an ankle injury two weeks ago during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

The 26-year-old striker was on the receiving end of a poor tackle from a Rwandan defender and, after trying to play on for a few minutes, had to be substituted. Last weekend, the injury also caused him to miss Galatasaray’s Turkish Super Lig game at Eyüpspor.

Despite initial optimism from coach Okan Buruk that the Nigerian could return to action for the clash at the Deutsche Bank Park, Osimhen’s name was conspicuously missing from the squad list officially released by the Turkish champions on Wednesday.
The decision to omit him is due to his ongoing ankle issue, as Galatasaray have opted to ensure he is fully fit before he returns to the pitch. Osimhen’s absence is a significant blow for the club, as the Super Eagles marksman has a strong scoring record against Eintracht Frankfurt, having found the net three times in three appearances against the Bundesliga side.
