Nigeria’s Super Falcons put on a strong display, beating rivals Ghana 3-1 in their final warm-up match before the delayed 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
After a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Portugal in Lisbon, the Falcons were determined to make a statement. Ghana, riding high from recent wins over Malawi (3-1) and Benin Republic (4-2) under new management, came ready to challenge.
The first 30 minutes saw both teams share the ball evenly, with neither giving an inch. Nigeria broke through in the 34th minute when Chinwendu Ihezuo scored her second international goal.

Just before the break, Asisat Oshoala coolly slotted a penalty to make it 2-0, marking her first goal for Nigeria since October 2023 and her first of 2025.
The Falcons kept their foot down after halftime. Rasheedat Ajibade made it 3-0 within five minutes, her third goal in two games after a brace against Cameroon.
Ghana pushed back as Nigeria relaxed, with Evelyn Badu’s effort ruled out for offside. Alice Kusi pulled one back with an 88th-minute penalty, but the Falcons held firm.
This confidence-boosting win sets Nigeria up nicely for their WAFCON opener against Tunisia on July 6.
