Super Eagles outclass Algeria to book semi-final spot with Morocco

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have qualified for the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a breathtaking performance over Algeria.

The three-time African champions outran, outplayed, out muscled the Desert Foxes to qualify for yet again another semi-final.

Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles dominated the tie from the blast of the first whistle to the last as the Algerians struggled to get out of their half.

Akor Adams missed a glorious chance to put Nigeria ahead a few minutes before half time as his attempt narrowly went off target.

However, Victor Osimhen put Nigeria ahead a minute into the second half with a thumping header from Bruno Onyemaechi’s sublime cross.

Akor Adams redeemed his missed chance as he calmly beat Zidane from Osimhen’s pass in the box as he tapped the ball into an empty net.

The Sevilla striker’s header for the third, came off the foot of the pole from Osimhen’s cross in the box.

Nigeria sealed a 2-0 win, qualifying for their 17th semi-final appearance in 21 attempts.

The Super Eagles will now take on host, Morocco for a place in the final of the competition.
